Ian Coursey is thrilled to be a part of the Sweet Mother of Christ family as both Mark and co-orchestrator! He has been lucky enough to witness the creation and growth of this extraordinary show over the past 3 years and he is so proud of his two best friends, Danny and Mia, for what they have created. Emily Rose DeMartino is beyond grateful to be a part of the SWEET MOTHER OF CHRIST workshop. Emily is a New York based performer. She made her Broadway debut in the Tony Award winning revival of PARADE, where she played the roles of Essie/others also understudying Mary Phagan. Some of Emily’s past credits include Sister Mary Robert in SISTER ACT (Five Towns College) Roxie Hart in CHICAGO (CM Performing Arts Center) Kim in BYE BYE BIRDIE (CM Performing Arts Center) Bebe in A CHORUS LINE (CM Performing Arts Center). Emily is currently a first year student at The Institute for American Musical Theatre! Emily would like to thank Daniel, Mia, Grace, Andrew and the rest of the creative team and cast for their love and support! 

Olivia Hellman is so excited to be a part of this workshop of SWEET MOTHER OF CHRIST! Originally from San Francisco, she just received her BFA in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts at the New Studio on Broadway.  This past month, she originated the character of Alex in the New York premiere of the new musical OPEN, STAY (Off The Lane), and she is also thrilled to be making her national tour debut in DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS this winter! Olivia is a singer-songwriter, and her newest single “Highway 17” and accompanying music video is out on all streaming platforms! Thank you to the entire cast and creative team, and all the love to Joel, Mommy & Dy! @oliviarhellman

ELYSE JOHNSON
Ensemble/Dance Captain

Elyse Johnson is a recent graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory where she received her BFA in Musical Theatre this past May. Past roles include Catherine in PIPPIN (Shenandoah University), Tribe member/Ronnie U/S in HAIR (Shenandoah University), and Wendla Bergman in SPRING AWAKENING (Ovations Theatre). Elyse would like to thank her three great childhood friends leading this production, Danny, Mia, and Ian, for this thrilling and heart warming experience to create art together once again! 

Jonas McMullen is a New York-based actor who is originally from San Diego, California. He is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan, earning his BFA in Musical Theatre. Jonas is passionate about creating new work. Most recently, he collaborated on a new Kerrigan and Lowdermilk musical and starred in an independent short film. When Jonas isn't performing he can be found crushing a burrito. He enjoys surfing, doing yoga, cooking, reading, and up-keeping good dental hygiene. @jonasmcmullen

OWEN SMITH

Owen Smith is an actor, musician, songwriter, and recent graduate of Penn State University with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre. He grew up in New York, and is thrilled to be reacquainted with his favorite city! He’s debuted new musicals like Salzman and Cunningham’s THE MORRIS & ESSEX LINE, as well as Szymkowitz and Asare’s MARIAN. It’s been such a pleasure bringing this hilarious and heartfelt musical to life, as well as supporting new work in any stage of its creation. Keep up with Owen! owenashberysmith.com - LGM!

Will is simply ecstatic to be a part of SWEET MOTHER OF CHRIST! He is a recent graduate of Marymount Manhattan College. Recent credits include RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA (MMC) and TOMORROW, THE ISLAND DIES (MMC.) Gillian (she/her) is ready to rumble. Originally hailing from Washington, DC, she began acting professionally at the city’s Fringe Festival when she was 16. She holds a Bachelors in Music from Baldwin Wallace Conservatory. She toured with the Broadway production, DEAR EVAN HANSEN, and can be seen in an episode of Billions (Showtime), and various films hitting the festival circuit this season! Gillian currently lives in New York. Many thanks to Danny and Mia for entrusting to her this beautiful material. @with_a_gee

Daniel Seligman

Daniel Seligman is a 21-Year-Old composer, lyricist, and playwright living in New York City. Seligman studies playwriting at Marymount Manhattan College and privately studies music with Adam Guettel. Seligman started work on SWEET MOTHER OF CHRIST in September of 2021, and has since workshopped and developed the piece into the full 2-act musical it is today. Seligman is also actively developing other musicals such as THE 1000 YEAR OLD MAN and DOMESTIC AFFAIRS alongside Mia Ehrlich. His song, "Too Little Time" was premiered at Anna Zavelson's debut 54 Below Concert earlier this year. Seligman recently worked on the Off-Broadway & Broadway Productions of DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES, as well as working as a music intern on the original cast album. 

Mia ehrlich
Director

Mia Ehrlich is a 22 year old director who recently graduated from NYU Tisch's drama program. She has directed short films, showcases, and plays, but specializes in developing new musicals. Ehrlich has directed several presentations of SWEET MOTHER OF CHRIST and is actively developing THE 1000 YEAR OLD MAN and DOMESTIC AFFAIRS alongside Daniel Seligman. When she's not directing, she's either seeing new work or riding the subway playing Pokémon. As a director, it's the details within a piece that Ehrlich believes matter most. Grace Van Houten

Grace Van Houten (NYC/ATL) is a dancer, choreographer and the Founder/Creative Director of SparkleDanceNYC. She received her degree in Dance with a concentration in Dance Education and minor in Arts for Communities from Marymount Manhattan College. At MMC she could be seen on stage in musicals, concert dance performances and short films. Off stage you could find her choreographing and assistant directing for various musicals, plays and short films. Grace spends her time teaching dance, with an emphasis on working with underserved communities, and creating accessibility in the dance world through her passion project @SparkleDanceNYC. @gracelvh 

Andrew Gerace

Andrew Gerace is a music director, orchestrator, and copyist based in Washington, DC. Andrew studied music directing and political science at the University of Michigan as well as being one of the first recipients of the minor in musical theatre composition from U of M’s musical theatre department. Andrew’s favorite type of projects to music direct are workshops, and he is greatly appreciative of the opportunity to work on this fantastic project with this incredible team! In his spare time, Andrew can be found playing the accordion, taking photos on his Minolta SRT-100, or watching The West Wing.
